Lots of Breaks

Spending time together and enjoying Whitefish, MT

Jason and I are currently enjoying a Snowboarding trip in Whitefish, Montana.  When we planned our trip about 8 months ago, we did not realize that I would still be struggling with low energy levels due to the oral chemotherapy that I currently take.  So far, I have been able to snowboard some but have had to take a lot of breaks between runs and after walking a lot.

We took a few pictures at the top of the mountain on a sunny day where the faraway peaks were visible.

On the first snowboarding day, I felt great and enjoyed some good runs on the mountain.  We even conquered snowboarding from the summit which was beautiful.  On the second day, I felt tired as I walked from the condo to the ski lift.  At this point, I realized that I needed to take frequent breaks.  I did try a few small runs where I did well but had to stop at the end of the run where basically I sat in a restaurant for 30-45 minutes just resting.  This is frustrating as I really enjoy being active.   I also knew that getting tired easily was a possibility before arriving in Montana.

Jason has been helpful to me when I have needed to stop.  Sometimes he has taken a break with me and other times gone to snowboard a run then joins me again to rest.  He understands my frustration but encourages me to remember that I need to listen to my body and take the breaks so I am not overly fatigued for 2 days sleeping, which is what happens when I don’t take the breaks.

View of Whitefish Lake from a ski lift. Pictures do not do it justice.

The scenery of the mountains and snow is so pretty.  Even though I have not been able to be as active with snowboarding as I would like, I have been able to enjoy the beauty of the snow on the trees and on the ground.  Even the warmth of the fireplace in the mornings is so nice as well with a quiet, peaceful moment at the beginning of each day.  I will never be able to unsee the beauty of the area while looking at Whitefish Lake from up on the mountain.  Even pictures do not do justice to being present and seeing it for yourself.

What are some ways that you enjoy moments in every day life or on trips even if you have to pivot from your original plan?

“Then the mountains of influence will be fruitful, and from your righteousness prosperity and peace will flow to all the people.” Psalm 72:3 TPT

  1. Once again Shauna you’re touching lives, forging ahead with grace and the desire to live life to its fullest. You are an inspiration! What a blessing it has been, sitting here on the sideline, watching the Lord carry you and Jason through this season. Your testimony is strong and impactful. Your transparency through the process very relatable to those on their own journey.
Blessings upon blessings! Much love, Pat
